About Eduardo (“Eddy”) Valenzuela
Eddy joined Safer States in 2020 and has since provided valuable administrative and communications support to the team. Before joining Safer States, Eddy honed his skills as an Environmental Programs Assistant with the City of Arcata. There, he played a vital role in implementing and managing various environmental programs. One of his most significant accomplishments was assisting in drafting Arcata’s pioneering Single-Use Disposable Foodware Ordinance, which now mandates that all single-use disposable foodware be fiber-based and free of toxic PFAS chemicals.
Eddy holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science & Management from Humboldt State University, demonstrating his commitment to environmental causes both personally and professionally. You can find Eddy residing in Portland, Oregon, alongside his partner, Ben, and their feline companion, Lady Pouncealot. Outside of work, Eddy enjoys reading, traveling, and keeping his streak going on Duolingo.
